Individual Education Planning
Students learn in many ways. Most of these ways can be accommodated by an expert teacher in a regular classroom, but some cannot, and to try to do so disadvantages all the students.
We believe that all children can learn well, so, when they are not doing so and the cause is not lack of effort it is often a the result of a diagnosable conditions such as dyslexia, dysgraphia, written output disorder and so on. Students with these conditions can learn perfectly well when teaching methods are adapted.
The Innovative Learning Centre (ILC) enrolls such students; they have Individual Education Plans, which can be followed carefully and their recommendations fully met. This centre offers individual and small group support in all subjects as well as Orton-Gillingham tutoring. The Centre has specially trained and experienced leadership.
The Study Club operates daily in the library from 3:30pm to 5pm. Tutorial assistance is available in all core subjects and teacher supervision is constant.
A peer-tutoring system is also being developed to cover most other subjects.
Where learning is being adversely affected by personal circumstances, we have a Counsellor and a Psychologist to assist.
