Graduation Years Program
In Grade 9, students are guided by specialist Grade 9 Advisors as they learn to ‘raise their game’ to meet the heavy demands of the GYP.
More, much more, is expected in the GYP in independent study, daily revision, personal accountability and responsibility, service to the school and others, and general maturity of approach.
Formal examinations are now written three times each year –in November, March and June –while external examinations mandated, set and marked by the Ministry, begin in June of the Grade 10 year.
There is more variety and choice in the curriculum, though we maintain a mandatory core of English, Math, Social Studies, Science, Modern Languages, the Arts and PE.
The Global Education Program provides opportunities for students to live and study in other countries, and for them to host visiting overseas students.
A full-time University Counsellor advises students on post-secondary options and entrance requirements.
Our Athletic teams compete in the GVISA league and in tournaments run by the ISA of BC.
The GYP performs a musical, a play and a major concert each year, as well as exhibiting Art throughout the school.
Program Enrichment is provided by two Alternative Elective Weeks, during which students can study from a wide variety of options not normally available in school. Recent courses have included Pilot Training, Animation, Chef School, and Equestrianism.
